This Baume & Mercier Baumatic Chronograph was brought to our watchmaking workshop in Geneva for a complete overhaul and restoration.
The initial inspection revealed several issues: a heavily oxidized winding stem, failed water resistance, movement performance outside acceptable parameters, and signs suggesting that the watch had sustained a significant impact.

This Baume & Mercier is powered by a 2892-A2 caliber with an additional module.
Testing on a Witschi timing machine showed readings outside the acceptable range, indicating that the movement required a complete overhaul.
Our inspection also revealed:
- significant oxidation of the winding stem;
- components of the winding system requiring replacement;
- a shifted dial, most likely caused by an impact;
- several worn or damaged external components;
- failed water resistance.
Water Resistance and External Components
The watch failed its 3-bar water-resistance test. Several seals therefore required replacement, including those around the crystal, case back, and pushers.
The crystal, hands, and other external components also required attention.

Results After Restoration
Following the restoration, this Baume & Mercier Baumatic Chronograph regained proper mechanical operation and a refreshed exterior appearance.
The movement overhaul and restoration of the winding system addressed the main mechanical issues. Replacement of the necessary external components and careful polishing completed the restoration while preserving the character of the watch.
